The idea of creating an ‘ideal home’ will mean different things to different people, but one thing is for sure: it will involve blending and balancing different attributes and qualities in way that meets your individual needs and tastes.
This can be hard to do, not just because budget and space constraints, but in incorporating different areas and functions, and blending different styles.
Today we’ll be taking a trip to Poland, to tour a sublime suburban home; the architects have made a superb job of subtly blending different attributes together to create a beautiful family home. Let’s take a look…
From the onset the home exudes appeal thanks to the beautiful backdrop of tress behind it, as well as the expansive green space at the front of the property.
This lovely, light living room is quite striking in its appearance despite its fairly subtle décor. Its modern style appears vaguely Scandinavian, as a white colour scheme with light wooden tones dominates the room, and in conjunction with the large windows creates a bright, clean and welcoming atmosphere.
The artwork and potted plants inject a bit of life and colour into the room, while the log burning stove creates a cosy space.
As we continue on we cross a threshold in the open-plan space, and find ourselves in the kitchen. The dining table sits neatly between the living room and kitchen, just out of view here, and works as point of separation between the two distinct areas.
The brilliantly white kitchen conforms to the same colour scheme as the living room with the wooden tones of the cabinetry matching the living room’s floor. The large window lets in plenty of natural light, and thanks to the home’s open-plan design it permeates through the dining area and into the living room.
In the bedroom we find elements of the consistent colour scheme that unifies the whole home, but the room also takes on a style of its own. The stunning chandelier and delightful dark drapes bring classic design elements into this modern master bedroom.
Finally, our tour takes us into the garden, where we can survey the whole home and its surroundings. As well as maximising natural light in the home, the patio doors leading onto the porch blur the distinction between indoor and outdoor space bringing a bit of the natural environment into the home. The porch itself provides a wonderful sheltered spot where the occupants can enjoy a little time in the fresh air.
