For many of us the bathroom is the most important room in the home. It's a place for relaxation and reflection, long soaks in the tub, and getting ready for a big night out. Unfortunately it's also the room that we often think about the least in terms of decor, but with a little bit of help from our homify professionals we're going to change all of that.
There's a lot of different looks that work well in the bathroom. You can go light and bright for a cool and airy bathroom, or you can go dark and sophisticated, but either way it's important to put a little effort into making sure that it looks great. We're going to look at some different colour combinations that will look wonderful in the bathroom, incorporating textures, tiles, and feature walls, to help inspire you to get your own bathroom looking fabulous. So let's get started!
Neutrals, despite their name, can be extremely impressive, especially in the bathroom. They look tidy and chic, and infuse a little sophistication. We especially love the textured tiles in this room; channelling nature they look fantastic with the stone basin, and combined with the woodgrain it gives the impression of a rainy riverside.
This fabulous blue tile pattern looks classical and gorgeous. Note how the rest of the room is very sleek and simple, so as not to overwhelm the eye, with the textured grey adding a modern touch. Tiles are always a great idea in the bathroom, they're easy to clean, water resistant, and they come in so many different styles!
What a fun and whimsical idea. The bright circular pattern on the back wall looks like it's straight out of a 1960s disco, and coupled with the vibrant pink looks stunning. There's even a Rolling Stones reference on the floor! This is a great example of how effective a room can look when you let your imagination run wild.
What an adorable design! The dainty flower and butterfly pattern makes for a very cosy room with a vintage feel. Opting for plain white for the fittings and furniture, and with a very cute towel rack, the complete effect is of a bathroom fit for a princess
This room takes the feature wall concept and applies it to fantastic effect on the sloping roof. With a very modern design, the shower's sleek surface stretches throughout the room in a fluid motion, protecting the bathroom from water damage. The painting on the wall reflects the bold red feature, a good reminder to decorate rooms with ornaments that fit the colour scheme.
For a sense of luxury, even in a small bathroom, marble is a great way to go. Marble patterns come in a variety of patterns and colours so that you can choose one that reflects your personality, but if you want to follow the splendid lead of these designers go for black and white for grandiose effect.
The aquatic theme is a timeless classic for the bathroom, and it's easy to see why. Turquoise promotes relaxation, and has a cool clean feel, so really any combination of light blues and greens will create the desired effect. The recessed lighting here is a great way to keep the room bright but calming, and the woodgrain evokes driftwood on a beautiful summer beach.
Designers are often reluctant to use dark colours because it can suck the light out of a room, but with a light grey concrete ceiling this bathroom looks fantastic. Opting for a minimalist decor to match the colour palette this room looks sophisticated and classy, albeit with a little bit of wild west flavour!
Sometimes it's a great idea to let nature take the reins as we see in this breath-taking cabin bathroom. Bathrooms are a great place for indoor plants, as they purify the air and promote cleanliness, but most importantly they add a lush green to the colour palette that looks fantastic in amongst all of this beautiful wood. The river stone surface running from floor to ceiling completes the organic feel, for one of the most impressive looking bathrooms we've ever seen.
