If the idea of low cost housing has you thinking of compromise and sacrifice then we have the perfect home to change your mind. Low cost doesn't have to mean low concept, and while this home certainly isn't large, it is incredibly well equipped, fashionable, and comfortable. The simple one storey structure features a pretty sizeable yard, providing plenty of outdoor space, while the rear of the home is covered in windows, blending the interior and exterior spaces.

Inside the design is throughly contemporary, with a cool industrial edge to the decor that makes it look trendy modern, but still inviting. The layout is extremely economical, making the most of the space available, and maintaining a good flow to the home. This is a really exciting example of practical and innovative home design, and we just can't wait to show it to you, so let's get started!

The rear facade

The rear facade consists almost entirely of windows, which open up to the yard. The huge doors open all the way across, meaning you can completely air the home out, and in summer blur the line between the interior and exterior. We love how the traditional aspects of the neighbourhood, such as the stone boundary fence, contrast with the ultra modern design of the home, creating a harmonious balance between the past and present.

An impenetrable facade

While it's immediately obvious that this home is the work of innovative architects due to the slit window and contemporary design elements such as the covered car port, this home gives absolutely nothing else away. Because the home is so small, with every room connected, you can use windows at the rear to let in the sunlight, while maintaining complete privacy at the front, and you'll still have a light and bright home.

The living area

Excluding the bathroom, the home is broken into two sections; one large living space, and a bedroom. The living space features a some really funky design elements, such as the industrial ceiling, the trendy light shade, and lots of really interesting furniture, such as that sleek dining room table.

The decor is sophisticated and modern, and yet still has the youthful exuberance of ambitious designers. They've opted for a cool neutral colour palette, but keep in mind those huge windows are letting in views of the yard, injecting a healthy dose of greenery into the decor.

The kitchen

The kitchen is simple; smooth white cabinets, ultra modern fittings, and that slitted window we saw on the facade. This home looks so effortless in its execution, but it's the kitchen that reveals that careful consideration that went into every element of the design. It features ample storage, a clear counter for food preparation, and all the accessories you need perfectly slotted in to one small nook.

The bedroom

Possibly our favourite aspect of this home is the way they have divided the living space from the bedroom using a fireplace! This ingenious solution means you can spend the evening cuddled up by the fire safe in the knowledge that your bedroom will be just as toasty!

The fireplace doesn't completely cut off the bedroom from the living space, meaning air is always circulating throughout the home, making sure there is no static energy or stagnation. A recessed light runs the entire length of the home, lighting the bedroom along with several lamps and spotlights, making this a truly welcoming and comforting space!

What a magnificent design! We love tiny homes here at homify, but this one is truly special, and goes to show what's possible when you have innovative professionals on the job. For another small home with big ideas check out this apartment!
