This apartment has undergone a complete remodelling that is sure to impress. Many modern apartments in urbanising cities around the globe can be very small and pokey, sometimes very dark, and often offer little potential for transformation.

Whether that's what you're dealing with, or you have something more hopeful on your hands, there are always opportunities to get innovative and imagine solutions you may have never dreamed possible. That's what the architects A54INSITU have achieved in their renovation of this dreary abode, creating a fresh, well-lit, and contemporary living environment.

The before and after provide us with plenty of ideas we can apply to our very own home transformations. You don't want to miss this one! Let's take a look…

Before: entry

Those retro glass tiles could be sleek and 'fashionable' if paired with a more contemporary and stylish design, but, as they stand, all that is achieved is a slightly naff and dated look.

Before: kitchen

The kitchen is a complete disaster. From the floor to the cabinetry, the wallpaper to the dreadful doors – there isn't a single redeeming feature in this dreadful space.

After: kitchen

It's a far cry from the cluttered and dated space it was before. This new kitchen is sleek and modern. Opting for a minimalist aesthetic, the colour and material palette is simple, refined. The high-level, timber cabinets break up the mass of white and the tiled floor adds a subtle touch or colour and pattern.

Before: living room

The living room is a great deal better. Sure, it's certainly not in quite as bad shape as the kitchen, but it could definitely use a fresh makeover. And, luckily that's what it got thanks to the talented architects…

After: living room

The new living room is an absolute delight. The all-white space is warmed up with natural wood floors and the odd piece of coloured furniture or furnishings. There is a strong sense of the occupants' personalities that shines through in their artwork and belongings that are placed within the space.

Before: bedroom

The bedroom was not only dated but it also appeared small and cramped, with very little natural light making its way into the space.

After: bedroom

Like the other room transformations, the bedroom is charming. The crisp and contemporary space is afforded a sprinkling of whimsy thanks to the soft pastels that decorate the bed and the fairy lights wrapped down the ladder-shelf. It's simple but hard to fault.

Before: bathroom

The bathroom, like the bedroom, kitchen, and living space, is cramped and dated. Not to mention, the lack of natural light which is a very noticeable characteristic in the small and unappealing room.

Bathroom: after

Now, that's an impressive turnaround! Light colours and effective artificial lighting make up for the lack of daylight. The floor to ceiling subway tiles are a stylish and contemporary touch. It's simple but effective.
