1. Over-planting

2. Not knowing your garden

Know what terrain you’re working with before purchasing plants. This means the type of soil you have in your garden and also the microclimates in your garden – for example, the sunny spots and shady spots. 5. Planting too close to your home

Trees and bushes will grow bigger, so where you initially put them matters. Never plant a tree or wild creepers too close to your home as the roots can cause damage to the structure of the house.

6. Keeping things too neat

Nature is unruly and your landscape should reflect that, or it’s boring. However if you prefer your garden to be really neat and tidy due to space constraints, here are 10 container gardening ideas for small spaces.

7. Not minding your mulch

Mulch is basically organic matter like dried leaves or fine branches which are placed in between plants to avoid weeds from growing and also to nourish the plants from the decomposing organic matter. Mulch can be very helpful, but don't use too much mulch or you might suffocate the plants or make the garden look messy.

8. Watering at the wrong time of day

Water in the morning and that’s it, otherwise it won’t reach the roots. If you water the plants in the afternoon when it's hot and then sun is at its strongest, it will not be able to soak up the water efficiently and it can also cause the plants to over-heat.
